Meet Niall Murphy, the MEP and Sustainability Director at 9E Global, a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy firm that delivers integrated engineering solutions with a strong emphasis on performance, economic efficiency, and sustainability.

The consultancy is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of engineering to build a sustainable and inclusive future.

Murphy joined 9E after serving as the Head of Technical Design Services at Miral, where he led a multidisciplinary team for five years. His portfolio included high-profile projects such as SeaWorld Abu Dhabi, The Abrahamic Family House, The Natural History Museum, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, and Qasr Al Watan.

There is no doubt that despite being a relatively new entrant in the UAE engineering consultancy market, 9E Global’s team member have significantly contributed to the region’s development over the past decades.

Murphy’s decision to join 9E was driven by the recognition of a gap in the marker for an engineering consultancy that priorities not only client needs but also the urgent demand for sustainable engineering practices in the Middle East.

At Miral, Murphy championed the development of key ESG policies and initiated several sustainability projects, including the installation of 7 MW and 8.2 MW solar plants at Warner Bros. Wordl and SeaWorld Abu Dhabi. These initiatives significantly reduced carbon emissions and catalysed further sustainability efforts across Yas Island.

“At 9E, sustainability is not seen as an addition or enhancement to projects but as a core principle from the inception of design ideas and project development. Client feedback indicates that sustainability remains top priority, even amid recent growth in the housing sector. End users are increasingly prioritising health and wellbeing, with sustainable buildings offering healthier living environments through better air quality, natural lighting, and advanced MEP systems.”

“Recently, we have collaborated with several clients to address the need for outdoor comfort through passive solutions from the project’s outset. This has led our MEP team to explore innovative approaches to outdoor comfort, utilising detailed energy and weather simulations in close cooperation with architectural teams to create efficient and pleasant outdoor environments”

Continuing, Murphy revealed that 9E Global provides sustainable design practices. “Our commitment to sustainability is embedded in our approach to every project, ensuring that environmental responsibility and economic efficiency go hand in hand. By integrating sustainable solutions from the outset, we no only meet client needs but also contribute to a healthier, more sustainable future for all stakeholders involved,” he concluded.
