DXB Airport: Concourse 3

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Project Description

Concourse 3, dedicated exclusively to Emirates Airline operations, is one of the most advanced and expansive airport concourses in the world. Spanning approximately 500,000 square metres across 11 levels, the facility was purpose-built to support high-volume, long-haul operations while delivering a premium passenger experience aligned with Emirates’ global brand.

The concourse features 20 contact gates and 13 remote stands, all fully equipped to handle the Airbus A380, making it the world’s first concourse designed specifically for this aircraft type at the time of opening. This infrastructure significantly enhanced Dubai International Airport’s operational capability, contributing to an overall airport capacity of 75 million passengers per year.

A defining feature of Concourse 3 is its passenger-centric design. Entire floors are dedicated to Business Class and First Class passengers, providing seamless, direct boarding from exclusive lounge facilities to aircraft—an innovation that elevated luxury air travel standards globally. These lounges are among the largest in the world, offering dining, retail, wellness, and relaxation facilities within the secure airside environment.

Further strengthening connectivity and passenger flow efficiency, the concourse is linked to Terminal 3 via an Automated People Mover (APM). This airside train system marked another regional first for Dubai Airports, ensuring fast, reliable, and high-capacity transfers between terminals while minimizing walking distances for passengers.

Overall, Concourse 3 represents a major milestone in airport design and aviation infrastructure, reinforcing Dubai International Airport’s position as a global aviation hub and setting new benchmarks for scale, efficiency, and premium passenger experience.
